Cyclepaths Challenge 2016 Ride Report & Photos

Cyclepaths Organizers

Cyclepaths Bike Club of Monroeville kicked off our 2016 season with a bang…well no, it was a “CHIME.”   As the 8:00 chime sounded at the Old Monroe County Courthouse, a record number of over 200 bicyclists rolled out on a chilly but beautiful morning. Monroeville support was awesome with police, fire, rescue personnel and SAG support.

Friday night Pre-Registration went smoothly despite soggy conditions and it was great fun to see many of our 2015 CHAMPIONS and many other familiar faces stop by to sign in and head over to the Courthouse Cafe to carb up and visit with old friends.  Our new Academy Sports canopies were much appreciated!

Of the 208 registered cyclists, 142 Centurions checked in by the end of the day and three club members who spent the Challenge Day supporting our cyclists did their make-up ride the following day. The final CENTURION list is to the right. Please send any corrections to bamabackroads@gmail.com  CONGRATULATIONS to all of you for completing a tough century ride in winds of 15-20 miles an hour plus challenging climbs!

These were our First Men In with a time of about 5:10…all smiles after a hard ride!
