MONROEVILLE           APRIL 7, 2018

Organizers would appreciate your feedback by taking their follow-up survey.

Our first Series event kicked off the season in style with support from Monroeville Fire & Rescue, J.T. Johnston Ham Radio Club, and stellar community support at headquarters, on the road, and at rest stops!  The Challenge champions Smile-a-Mile in its efforts to provide support to families with children fighting cancer. Each rest stops reminds riders of how they are assisting in these endeavors. Smile-a-Mile’s Savannah Lanier DeRieux spoke to the group before ride start and thanked them for coming.

Chris Cole & Savannah

We were honored to be blessed in a pre-ride prayer by Tommy Gaillard who lost his daughter, Jamie to cancer several years back.  Tommy pedaled his century in memory of Jamie yesterday.

Congratulations to Ride Directors Dana & Terry Hornady as well as Planning Committee members Morgan Valvano, Dan Lieber, Jacky Hornady, James Allen Hornady (medic on course) and so many volunteers who made the day possible!  The lunch was superb as was the great layout of food during the day!

Photos are already being shared through our Facebook page and more will be added and also posted on Cyclepaths Challenge page of this site.  Here’s a starter slideshow of on-the-road photos by Marsha Burt:

Cyclepaths bike club of Monroe County was started as a way for local riders to enjoy the rural areas around Monroeville and ride as a group year round. Our mission is to educate others about cycling and exercise and at the same time support charitable organizations dealing with cancer victims.

Cyclepaths is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) club and all 2017 proceeds will support Camp Smile-a-Mile. Our century ride is “Cyclepaths Challenge” and winds through the back roads of Monroe and Conecuh Counties.
Our motto is “Until there is a Cure, We will Ride”. Come join us and lets roll.
