September 22, 2018

We have made some route changes; not only to address safety and road surface concerns, but also to make our ride “more Opelika!”

We’ve tried to amplify Opelika’s Life in a Railroad Town theme, tying in nicely with the story of Conductor Johnny Ray:

*Lee County Bicentennial Grant Application application celebrating the Johnny Ray story pending

*Build out a railroad themed bicycle rack designed by an Opelika High School Engineering Student.

*Route will start at Opelika’s Municipal Park

*Home of the Rocky Brook Rocket-our miniature train will be running on the morning of the ride.

*Route will end at Red Clay Brewing Company on North Railroad Avenue in historic downtown Opelika

*Cyclists will enjoy pizza, beer and a “slice” of Life in a Railroad Town.
